The worse thing of Sharepoint 2010 is you can't override default web controls by custom web controls. So you can't use RichControls instead of lookup dropdown by typing some 'magic' line in environment configuration.
But we found the way to use RichControls with standard Sharepoint lookup fields:

Open web.config of web application and add the following line to pages/controls section:
